Open Summit AI Melbourne 2027

Thursday 29 April 2027 · Melbourne Town Hall · Doors 11am · Programme noon–3pm

We're returning to Melbourne Town Hall for an afternoon of practical conversations about AI in business. Our announced 2027 line-up brings together AI research, business operations, marketing, policy and entrepreneurship, with one stage and a shared programme for the whole room.

Melbourne is where our 2026 Australian series began. We brought the room together at Melbourne Town Hall on 14 May 2026, and we're returning for the next chapter. The 2027 return is a separate event with a new date, announced speakers and its own ticket arrangements.

The afternoon and its runtime

Doors open from 11am for registration and time with our community. The main programme runs from noon to 3pm, a three-hour block of talks and conversations about AI in business. Networking takes place around that programme.

We'll announce our full Melbourne run sheet and individual sessions as the programme develops. Plan around the start and finish times below, and we'll send further event details to attendees.

One stage means the room follows the same core conversation. An owner considering investment, an operations manager thinking about implementation and a marketing leader examining customer discovery can hear the same speakers and compare their interpretations. There are no parallel tracks to divide the main programme.

Announced Melbourne speakers

Toby Walsh, Scientia Professor of AI at UNSW and a fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, brings a research perspective on where AI is heading and what it means for business.

Lucio Ribeiro, Chief AI and Innovation Officer at Omnicom, works with brands on how AI changes the way people search, discover and make decisions. His background connects advances in technology with the customer-facing decisions businesses make.

Richard Welch MP joins us as Victoria's Shadow Minister for AI and the Digital Economy and represents North-Eastern Metropolitan in the Legislative Council. His background includes financial services, technology projects, entrepreneurship and work on motion-tracking technology before entering Parliament.

Jack Bear, Founder of Norg AI, builds systems for business visibility in AI-generated answers. His work is relevant to companies considering how customers discover services through AI search.

Clayton Cross, CEO and Founder of Ellipsis Mining, connects capital with AI operations across mining, technology and venture capital. His previous Open Summit material examines the operating layer around AI and the economics of using models for different tasks.

Kate Save joins us as MC and host, alongside her roles as CEO of Be Fit Food and host of the Inspired CEO podcast. Her experience includes building a national food business and a background in dietetics and exercise physiology.

We'll announce more Melbourne speakers, individual session titles and speaking times with our full programme.

The business questions to bring

We design our events for founders, owners, operators and senior decision-makers. You do not need to build AI models to benefit from the discussion. The useful starting point is the decision facing your business: how to improve a workflow, assess a proposed investment, introduce a tool into an existing system or respond to changing customer behaviour.

Our announced speakers offer different perspectives on those decisions. Research helps frame what the technology can do. Operating experience brings the discussion to implementation. Marketing and discovery examine the route to customers. Policy adds the wider environment in which businesses act. The programme is still developing, so these are perspectives represented by the line-up rather than promised individual sessions.

The 2026 record and material to explore

We sold out Melbourne Town Hall for our event on 14 May 2026. The historical programme included Clayton Cross on AI depth and operating value, Jack Bear on AI search and business visibility, and John McGiffin on security and data, with Kate Save hosting. That record is separate from the line-up for 29 April 2027.

We continued at Sydney Town Hall in July 2026. Our speaker deck collection offers a useful introduction to the subject matter: Clayton Cross on AI as an operating advantage, John McGiffin on enterprise maturity and Jack Bear on an agent economy. Our Sydney highlights film takes you inside that event.

Our 2026 Australian season partners included Norg.ai, SCX.ai, AgiBot, Same Day Printing, Fishburners and School of Hope. We'll announce partnerships for our upcoming cities separately.
